Gene Expression

We have a strong interest in examining gene regulation in several different tissues and cell lines. We employ a combination of high throughput, whole genome investigations, and focused, hypothesis-driven experiments.

These studies include cell lines, rodent brain structures, primate brain punches, laser-microdissected cells, and human postmortem brain tissue. The Leica AS LMD 7000 instrument enables us to perform multiple wavelength fluorescent immunhistochemical labeling of cells of interest prior to microdissection. Given the importance of RNA quality for these studies, our workflow includes RNA quality evaluation using Agilent Bioanalyzer, nano and picoassays. In global gene expressions experiments, we seek to obtain mechanistic insight by utilizing bioinformatics approaches such as the Ingenuity Pathway Analysis.
